Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity
Around the world, the poor cry. They cry for shelter, for food, and for justice. They cry for their basic needs to be met.
Habitat for Humanity has responded to housing needs for 25 years. Westwood has worked with Habitat building homes since 1991 in North Minneapolis, Phillips,
Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that works in partnership with people in need of decent shelter to build simple, decent houses. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses through no-profit, no-interest mortgages while contributing hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” labor working on their house and the houses of others. Their mortgage payments are placed in a revolving “Fund for Humanity” to finance the construction of future houses.
The Southwest Chapter of Thrivent that relates to congregations in this area including Westwood is seeking volunteers to work on a Habitat for Humanity housing. Contact Pastor Jason at j.vanhunnik@westwoodlutheran.org or click here to sign up. Come and join this important project for one or all three days!
Please keep Habitat in your heart and prayers.
