Dear Parents,
We have much to be grateful for, including your great participation in our Annual Teddy Bear Picnic with your donations of food, fish pond donations, helping us prepare food and ready ourselves for the event. Your gracious comments and joyful participation were deeply appreciated. We especially noted your positive response to our displays of your children’s learning through documentation.
The exceptional gift of the playground upgrade, including the new turf, was wonderful, as were all the donated hours of labor! The children are thrilled with the new look. As we continue to work on the new play area, we are exceedingly pleased with our new play opportunities. We are still in need of some toy storage, additional seeds and plants, but what great fun as our community works together on this project!
We are also so pleased with the strides we are making in our healthier breakfast and snack menus. Thank you for noticing. Teachers spent time working on this issue at our Staff Development session on May 24. Teachers B lair and Crystal, along with everyone’s intentional work, have put in many hours of planning, researching, shopping and evaluating our commitment to healthier eating at WECC and making deliberate changes.
Our work on developing an enhanced Nature Walk was promoted at our Teddy Bear Walk. Watch for your child’s classroom month to participate in special Nature Walk experiences. The staff members were treated to a walk on the trail at the end of our Teddy Bear Day Staff Development. Karen Walburg has been our primary driver on this unique curriculum component at WECC.
As a result of achieving the Parent Aware 4 Star Rating, the WECC is being awarded a $1,000 grant to upgrade our High Scope Child Observation Record system.
