Chris and Sarah Tangert are young adults at Westwood who are actively involved with Senior High Ministry. They are Senior High Small group leaders, Sarah was an adult leader on our houseboat trip last summer, and they both will be adults going along on the gathering. Their leadership, commitment and faith have been a huge asset to our senior high ministries, and we are so blessed to have them serving with us as faithful role models! Here is what they had to say about their service…
“Chris and I began participating in the senior high program at Westwood as a way to get more involved. We were interested in connecting with more members of the church, and what’s more fun than connecting with a ton of awesome high school kids as well as some great adults? During our time in this ministry, we have had the chance to meet many magnificent high school students, and have built some meaningful relationships with kids and other adults. We have spent a lot of our time studying and serving with these young adults, but have also focused a lot on having fun!
We have also had the amazing chance to grow in faith together as a married couple, alongside young people who are challenging and questioning everything around them. The time spent together on youth trips and in small groups has given us the opportunity to not only be positive role models in the lives of these kids, but to also learn from their fresh and open faith.
Sitting back and watching these high school youth at Westwood, you can just see God at work. These kids are helping each other navigate this hard time in their lives, and helping each other learn to be the hands and feet of God. Living in this world as a Christian young person can be a challenge, but this huge support team at Westwood is guiding these kids. This ministry helped us navigate our faith during the challenging high school years and we are honored to be a part of it as adults.”
Chris and Sarah have been incredible mentors to our kids, advocates for them and a great example of how faith and life intersect and work together. They are faithfully serving Jesus thru their relationship with kids and with each other, an incredible gift to all!
