Summer Schedule

Ministry Opportunities

In addition to the 2 page list of Westwood's Ministry Teams, we have now added the full 44 page booklet of Ministry Opportunities. Go to the Council Corner, under Council Messages.

Worship & Music Review Team

First, we would like to thank all those who expressed an interest in being a part of this Team. We tried to create a group that had a cross-section of ages, gender, worship service preference, and participation. This group will begin meeting at the end of this month and will be working diligently for many months to come on a variety of worship and music areas that our congregation is looking at. We will have updates in the newsletter and on our website. We plan to host many sessions where an even greater input will be sought as we get closer to making decisions. - Kris Langlois, Director of Music, and Pastor Tania. Team: Barry Novak, Faith Broman, Dave Guenzel, Alton Johnson, Paula Holmberg, Jacob Niewinski, Mike Walgren, Rogene Bergquist, and staff, Kristen Husom, Kris Langlois, Pastor Tania Haber.

Keep Your Directory Current

We invite you to pick up a list of our newest members at the office counter to add to your church phone directory. We will have this available after each new member group so you can keep you book up-to-date.

S.T.E.P. Food Drive

We, as a congregation, have the opportunity to support the St. Louis Park Emergency Program’s foodshelf in May. The foodshelf provides St. Louis Park residents more than 24,000 pounds of nutritious, culturally appropriate food every month. The need for food is up significantly. Please bring donations for summer lunches to provided drop boxes marked S.T.E.P. to church on May 4, 11, or 18. May 18 will be the delivery date of our contributions. Suggested items to bring are: peanut butter, jelly/jam, canned fruit, spaghettios/ravioli.

Missa Criolla, Sunday, May 11

On Sunday, May 11, the A Cappella Choir will help us celebrate Pentecost by singing the Missa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez at the 8:20 and 9:45 services. Composed for choir and soloists with guitar, string bass, piano, and lots of percussion, Missa Criolla sets the texts of the Kyrie, Gloria, Creed, Sanctus ("Holy, Holy, Holy"), and Agnus Dei ("Lamb of God") to  music that is based on traditional South American folk rhythms and idioms. Sung entirely in Spanish, this unique work helps us remember that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to people of all cultures, all times, and all places.
